How Long Do Judgments Placed in Texas Remain in Effect?
My ex-husband and I bought a home in 1987 we divorced in 1989 and I signed a quit claim deed to the home over to him. In 1995 a collection agency tried to collect from me because my ex was foreclosed on. A judgment was filed in April of 1995 in a county court. How long will this remain on my record?

A civil judgment in Texas does not become dormant until ten years after it is signed. It can be renewed for another ten years by the issuance of a writ of execution.
At any time before the judgment becomes dormant, the clerk, upon request, can issue an abstract of judgment which can then be recorded in the official public records and is available forever.
Now would be a great time to consult your attorney about options.
