What Is a Release of Judgment Lien?

release tells the county that the amount of a judgement that you were entitled to (probably a part of the divorce settlement) is paid and can be released from the county records as paid. IF you still have money or property issues not released don’t sign it; see your atty.
When a judgment is obtained against an owner of property, that judgment, if properly recorded in the public records becomes a lien on the property. The lien can be enforced by a foreclosure proceeding if the judgment creditor knows about it & chooses to so enforce it. A release is a document signed by the judgment creditor releasing that property from the claim of the lien. There are various reasons why a judgment creditor may do so: Usually it is payment of the judgment; or partial payment; or to allow the debtor to sell the property to make a payment, etc.
YOu can go to the court; odds are the judgement amount included interest and penalty ,and is correct. NO judge will release a judgement untill the lender has been demonstrated to have failed to release it in a legal and timly manner.
